About Belay Rigging

Why can I trust the numbers on this site?

Because every figure here comes from a published standard, so you can check it yourself. Belay Rigging supplies lifting and cargo equipment across Kenya, quoted against a size and a standard.

What our figures are based on

What this business is

We are a registered Kenyan business. We sell lifting and rigging equipment to building sites, workshops, fabricators and transporters. We do not run a shop or a showroom, by design.

Our team also builds ziplines and ropes courses.

You ask for a size, and we quote that size. The specifications are on this site, so you can read them before you contact us.

Every quote we send is in writing, so you can hold us to it.

This takes a little longer. We check each size against its standard before we send the price.

Where the figures come from

Our figures come from published standards, not from us. A standard applies to every item made to it, from any maker. You can look the figures up yourself.

When a figure depends on the actual item and not on a standard, we say so and do not publish it. That is why the wire rope page shows no breaking load.

No working load limits

We do not work out a WLL for anybody. It depends on the hitch, the angle, the condition of the gear and the skill of the person rigging it.

That decision belongs to a competent person on site, with the gear in front of them. We publish what the standards say, and nothing more.

No certificate we did not receive

We do not approve our own goods. Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act only a registered plant examiner may certify lifting equipment.

If a test certificate comes with the goods, you get it. If there is none, we tell you.

How an order runs

  1. You send a size. Item, diameter or capacity, quantity. A photograph of the old one works as well as a part number.
  2. A written quote comes back. Size, grade, the standard where it has one, lead time and delivery cost. You see all of it before you pay.
  3. You confirm. The quote holds seven days and carries a number that stays with the order through to the invoice.
  4. It reaches your site. Rider or van in Nairobi, courier upcountry, road freight across the border. If the date changes, we tell you.
